The holiday season is kicking off and we at the Think Tank are watching the end of this year with great anticipation. Needless to say, 2020 has been a whirlwind, crazy, and chaotic year filled with lessons, struggles, and successes.

As we reflect on where we are and where we’ve been, we want to take a quick pause to say thank you to our readers, our listeners, our guests, our teams, our friends and our family. You are all an incredible tribe that we are so proud to be a part of.

Thank you from the Think Tank of Three.

We are now 15 days removed from the national elections and I have very mixed emotions of where we are as a nation.

On one hand, I am openly happy and relieved in the knowledge that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be sworn in as President and Vice President on January 20, 2021.  On the other hand a not so secret hard truth was also laid bare on Tuesday, November 3rd,…… this country has a very long way to go. This is part one of a two-part series podcast with Dr. Dorian Hunter. This is part one of Episode #39.

We’ve had seven months now to get used to the new normal between the pandemic, life in quarantine, the mask debate, civil unrest, the kids at home, working remotely or trying to work remotely or not working remotely. The economy is shifting. The election is coming up and the news is constantly telling us it is the worst of times.

What the hell is normal, and how do we cope with a life that is so far from normal, let alone thrive? Continue Reading Mental Health in 2020 with Dr. Dorian Hunter – Episode #39 Part 1

“I’m not asking much, just a token really, a trifle! What I want from you is – your voice.-Ursula the Sea Witch

Ursula The Little Mermaid

Do you remember watching the classic Disney movie The Little Mermaid and seeing Princess Ariel give up her voice to become human? While it may have seemed like a good trade at the time, she quickly realized she gave up a precious part of not just communication, but her soul. Watching her flounder to express herself, go on a first date, and let the man she loves know he’s been brainwashed by a monster was frustrating for the viewers.

While we may not be squaring off for a battle with a sea witch (unless your mother-in-law is coming to town), 2020 has absolutely been dramatic and difficult. So in a year that feels like the fight between good and evil, how can you win at the most important thing: your voice? Continue Reading The Value Of Finding Your Voice and Being Authentic

Pam Oliver has been a force to be reckoned with in the NFL broadcasting field for over 25 years!  But she didn’t just happen to get to the top, Pam worked for her reputation of knowledge and straight forwardness that let everyone know, there was a job to be done first and foremost. With the shift to working remotely, the insanity of 2020 in general, and the stress levels of everyone around me I’ve noticed conversations getting a little crunchy lately.

I’ve had to do a lot of pausing, deep breathing, and counting to ten in my conversations. I find I’m regularly checking myself and my reactions against the things others say in discussion with me.

Are they being jerks? Do we just disagree? Do they have any awareness of how they’re being perceived?

In today’s professional setting especially, it is so important to check yourself (before you wreck yourself) before you react.

Here’s how you can do that. Continue Reading Is It Bad Behavior Or Do You Just Disagree?

A man I love once told me that I am what’s wrong with the world.

“You,” he had exclaimed in frustration. “You are the problem!”

I was in my early 30s and working as an Executive Producer in a TV newsroom. My sixth newsroom in four states, which to me symbolizes the sacrifice and hard work I had put in to build a successful career and advance in an industry that I can only describe as a 24/7 pressure-cooker.

I was having dinner with my parents when my dad, clearly exasperated and not intending to hurt my feelings, declared that as a member of the media, I was the problem.
